For The Love of Earthy Kitchen...!

How have you been? I had been busy with some work related stuff taking over all other things in life!

When Reliance Timeout closed down their shop at RMM, they had a clearance sale. "1000 Kitchen Ideas" was a book I had been eyeing for long time, which happened to be on 70% discount. Promptly the book was picked, billed, packed & brought home. It must be more than 4-5 months now, I might have seen all the pictures for more than 100 times now. But still in the middle of super hectic day, I can make time to drool through & get lost in this book. I can only imagine the warmth & the love these kitchens might hold..

Go on look at the pictures taken from the book. By the end of it you would know, why I can do what I did again & again!

Our own Goan Corner at Bangalore!

How have been? We had a wonderful Deepawali, starting(or was it re-starting? ) quite rituals at home. My high point of the festival was indulging in a Tanjore Mahalakshmi painting! Will soon do a blog post to share the pics.

Both I & hubby are major fans of Goan architecture/  interiors/ sunny colours. We wanted to have a tiny goan corner at home for sometime now.  Hubby had presented a lovely tiled mirror for my birthday couple of years back. We had put this up at our hand wash corner. We were planning to paint happy goan colours at this wash corner to complete the ambience.

This Deepawali, we finally got into action. The colours were finalized , hubby zeroed in on ink blue colour. Ink blue is something very different from colour pallets at home, but never the less we were excited to see the results. But once the painting was completed, I was like nay, this is not it. I knew that the tiles are the dampener.

I was not particularly crazy about the beige back splash tiles, that came with the home. I wanted sunny yellow coloured tiles instead! I was not able to get plain sunny yellow tiles in town, and I was not very comfortable with breaking the tiles either. After searching on internet about painting the tiles,  primer & sunny yellow acrylic paints from Asian paints was bought. And voila the tiles were painted sunny yellow!

As usual, the husband was begged to paint a water color of goa, terracotta owl was painted in left over blue colour  and the sunny yellow pots & the mosaic pots from My Sunny Balcony were brought in & now I am a happy person..! Now you go ahead have dekko at our goan corner! Let me know how do you like it!

Store Tour - Raaga Arts, Bangalore - Part 1

After Dasara, now is the preparation & excitement of looking forward for Deepawali. After moving from my parents home for college many years back, I have not really spent much of time/ energy celebrating festivals. A thing I regret now. Most of the festival holidays were spent touring around...!

With babies around we wanted to start celebrating festivals. The beginning was with Dasara this year. Now the excitement is carried on to Deepawali.

As we were haunting for Dasara gombe , on the way to Jayanagar 4th block, we saw a beautiful gombe set-up in one of newer shop.  Yes, the shop which caught our excitement was Raaga Arts! Founders of Raaga Arts were partners at Tarang earlier.

Today let us get into their shop & see their gombe collection. They have fantabulous collection ranging from paper mache, clay, wooden, Kondepalli & many more! Even now (post-dasara) they are selling dolls and on selected range they do have discounts! Do visit the place to spruce up your collection for next year!

Watch out for Part 2, I promise it will be a good one! till then stay happy, stay charged...!

Dasara Gombe...

Happy Dasara All!

Ah! one off my bucket-list! Yes, I always wanted to set up gombe for Dasara since I can remember. My childhood memories of dasara are from my Attemma's (My father's sister) home. Her gombe display with landscaping is one of the best I have seen till date! She used to have elaborate 7step (or was it 9?), with a huge Mysore landscape with Seethalakshmi Saree House to assorted chappal shops to KRS to Zoo to everything else a child could dream for!

This year we decided to tick this off the list! Along with my able assistants (Aka my babies!) we set up a basic 3 steps and a humble landscaping this year. Ahh It was so much of fun to set it up & watch them coming together. Babies were generous with lending their toys as their contribution. Though the littlest one points at stainless steel kitchen set, mini Hawkin pressure cooker & say " Idu nandu"(This is mine!) to every gombe visitor we have!

Multiple visits to Jayanagar, some browsing for ideas, some mid-night oil and this was the result.

For the Love of Flowers!

Hey there! How have you been? We have been busy with Dasara Gombe planning.  It would be a basic 3 steps and tiny landscape set-up this year. The babies are all excited. All the jugad for setting up steps with the things at home is figured out! I had been dreaming of putting up gombe for long time now. A super hectic corporate job never allowed it. Hope we will continue this tradition in coming years too.

After collecting all the wonderful tips from amazing BCLers, we have been making multiple trips to Jayanagar 4th Block to buy clay dolls & dress the Maharaja, Maharani dolls. We have been trying to grow Methi in take-out boxes. Keeping fingers crossed that the seeds will germinate, grow & be nice till the end of Dasara. The babies are excited to share their toy animals & cars as a part of the set-up.

In one of such trip today, got a bunch of roses from Jayanagar complex. After trimming the stems & removing the thorns & arranging them at  varied containers at home, This is how it looked! I am a happy person today!

Yes, These roses are in blue green & purple, it was white roses dipped in colours...

Some graced Kitchen counter too :)

Have a great weekend folks!

Thank You Urban Ladder!

Hey there! How are you doing?

We have been huge fans of Urban Ladder from their early days! I simply love the design, quality, finish of their products & not to mention about their professionalism.

I had posted this Pic for 5K contest at Urban Ladder. And yay, our trix won the contest! One fine Thursday morning, Nandini called me to inform about it. By the time I was done with the call, I already was contemplating how would I splurge this 5K! I had been eyeing Latt bench for long time now.

After little more contemplating & some more UL site browsing, I did decide on Latt Bench. Whoa, 3rd day evening, the latt was delivered at home by utterly courteous UL staff.
Now this is our favourite place to sit & watch Bangalore rains, to do the homework, to sit down and read a book for adults & babies alike at home!.Thank you UL! You guys rock!

Come in in have a dekko at Latt in our balcony!

That is how latt snuggly fits in our tiny balcony.. How we love this place!

Supremely comfortable side rest !

The mango tree, colourful cushions and plants completes the ambience!

A closer look!

Closer look at those fantabulous grains!

Have a fab weekend guys! See you next week!
